One of the simplest AEO wins we’ve run and it’s still compounding
Last quarter, I shared a small AEO experiment we ran at Webflow.
Months later, it’s still one of the cleanest, easiest, highest-return optimizations we’ve shipped and one of the simplest to replicate conceptually.
This wasn’t about publishing more content.
It wasn’t about chasing AI hype.
It was about answering questions better.
What we changed
We added structured FAQs + clean schema automation to a handful of core product pages:
CMS
SEO
Design
Interactions
Shared Libraries
Hosting
No fluff.
No AI theatrics.
Just clearer, more complete answers to real questions people already ask.
The impact
+331 new AI citations
(57% of all new citations across Webflow.com)+24% SEO impressions
Visibility lifted across almost every tracked cluster
A tiny structural change → a compounding effect.
How it worked (high level)
This was driven by an incredible effort from my Growth team at Webflow, with special thanks to Vivian Hoang for helping drive this forward.
We built the workflow in AirOps, which powered the end-to-end system and made it possible to move fast without adding ongoing manual lift.
The system surfaced real user questions by pulling from:
Google “People Also Ask”
Reddit and niche subreddits
Perplexity research
Internal search and support signals
From there, it:
Analyzed existing FAQs and identified gaps
Mapped and prioritized the highest-intent questions
Generated on-brand, product-specific answers
Structured everything into clean, automated schema
Published a fully optimized FAQ system with near-zero manual overhead
In other words: AEO as a system, not a one-off tactic.
The bigger takeaway
Stepping into 2026, the easiest way to grow isn’t publishing more pages —
it’s answering better.
The lift didn’t come from net-new content.
It came from:
Clarity
Structure
Answer depth
Or simply: giving people (and machines) better answers to the questions they’re already asking.
This reinforces something Ethan Smith has been articulating clearly for a while now:
good AEO is an extension of good SEO — just applied to an AI-first world.
The principles don’t change.
Sharpen clarity and structure, and both engines reward you.
